NASA Glenn Research Center recently opened an Acoustical Testing Laboratory (ATL) to support the low-noise design of microgravity space flight hardware. The lab utilizes an acoustical data acquisition system that will be used to perform acoustic emission and sound power level testing. Removable floor wedges will allow the test chamber to operate in either a hemianechoic (semi-echo-free) or anechoic (echo-free) configuration, depending on the size of the test article and the specific test being conducted.
