The United States Space Foundation inducted six NASA technologies at its annual Space Technology Hall of Fame gala on April 10, 2003, in Colorado Springs, CO. This was the Foundation’s largest group of inductees in its 15-year history. The Hall of Fame inductees ranged from a medical implant that helps thousands of Americans hear better to a humanitarian device for disarming mine fields.

The technologies inducted this year were the Cochlear Implant, Digital Latching Valve, Humanitarian Demining Device, Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit Technology (MMIC), Virtual Window and VisiScreen (ocular screening system). Each brings to Earth a different life-enhancing benefit from space technology. This year’s event brought the number of Hall of Fame inductees to forty-four.
